Creating Community through Arts and Culture
KALDERRA

Creativity is the beating heart of Healdsburg. With carefully orchestrated efforts, we believe Healdsburg will become the Arts Mecca of Northern California, supporting our diverse community, our growing creative economy and celebrating the work of our culture, artists, musicians and makers. Working in close collaboration with the City, business community and our Arts and Culture Commission, Kalderra is an organization that weaves together our creative community to cultivate a more vibrant and inclusive City for locals and visitors alike.
Kalderra draws its name from “Kal,” the historic Pomo village at the confluence of the Russian River near today’s Healdsburg Plaza. The word "caldera" references a fertile basin after volcanic transformation. Healdsburg sits at this crossroads, where ancient waters and creative fire meet, sparking new possibilities for Healdsburg’s arts and cultural future.
Kalderra's guiding purpose is to celebrate, sustain, and expand Healdsburg's cultural life by empowering local artists, fostering inclusive arts experiences, and building partnerships for community and economic vitality. Our vision is a flourishing cultural destination where creativity is celebrated daily, and all residents and visitors enjoy meaningful opportunities to learn, participate, and belong.
What We Do
Kalderra is the nonprofit catalyst whose work is to establish the Healdsburg Foss Creek Corridor Cultural Arts District, (HFCC), in Sonoma County, California. We unite existing cultural assets—galleries, venues, heritage sites, and creative spaces—into a thriving creative economic ecosystem that drives measurable business impact through the designation of Healdsburg as a California State Cultural District. Securing state designation can deliver enhanced property values, increased foot traffic for local businesses, and new funding streams for our community's artists and makers.

Kalderra’s primary goal is to prepare Healdsburg to become a state designated California Cultural Arts District by the next application cycle, currently anticipated in summer 2027. Focusing on goals set out in Healdsburg's Arts & Culture Master Plan, Kalderra will facilitate the formalization of a network of interconnected venues, cultural areas and events. Some of the efforts of Kalderra's board and volunteers include:

-
Art grant programs
-
Community focused events
-
Collaborating with the arts events calendar and information
-
Envisioning a future Healdsburg Arts and Culture Center with an international architectural ideas competition
